Our security guard dogs comply with the Guard Dogs Act of 1975 and are fully insured. They attend incidents assisting our Security Officers and/or the Emergency Services in dealing with any situation and are dispatched by our control room with an aim to contain or defuse the situation. Our guard dogs are trained in skills such as, intruder detection, searching, patrolling and handler protection and are most effective for night time use, where the dog is at its most effective, utilising its sense of smell to indicate intruders.
The presence and visibility of having a security guard dog acts as a deterrent towards potential intruders and is psychologically demoralising to criminals. As part of our BS 8517 undertakings, all of our dogs and handlers are assessed on a regular basis, so you can be sure that we always exceed the standard requirements. All of our officers are supplied with and are required to use an Active Guard patrol point device, which allows us to monitor their wellbeing and performance.
